CHOREOGRAPHER/DANCER TO WORK ON FILM

Simone Sobers is... the choreographer we hope to work with on "Glo." She will be choreographing all the dance pieces in the film (main character's fiance a Go -Go dancer, meaning she dances in crafty outfits to dance music and the transgender artist's dance installation works). We are very, very, excited about bringing this extraordinary choreographer's works to film and think it will lift the characterizations off the screen, rousing the audience to a state they rarely visit. __ Please help support the director's vision on screen in this film by donating to our online fundraiser (as low as a dollar on up to, well you decide). After the film is completed we have plans to distribute it via film festivals across the United States and maybe produce a larger piece (if it catches on enough) for movie theaters. Thank-you for visiting our blog and please make sure to DONATE: http://www.rockethub.com/projects/7425-fuel-a-narrative-film-about-bias Follow us here if you have a blog, on twitter, even on Facebook and spread the word if you can! Dance Parade + Dance Fest

We were out at Dance Parade yesterday, then continued on to the Dance Fest promoting the film.

We watched some of the performances, met some people who wanted to make connections but mostly talked to people then handing them a flyer explaining what we were doing.

About 70% of the people we approached took our flyer and/or talked to us with the other 30% ignoring or flat out saying no before we could pitch or engage them in anyway. But we hope a percentage of those who came actually find the RocketHub. As we need to raise money to do this film, so we need some donations to our RocketHub: http://www.rockhub.com/projects/7425-fuel-a-narrative-film-about-bias

Still, it was fun to be out & about, to see what was happening, connect with seemingly open hearts.

Diversity Rules - James Koury (press coverage)

James Koury has been in the public arena for many years. He has been the City Clerk in the City of Oneonta, NY, since 1992 and is the Editor of Diversity Rules Magazine. He is very active in his hometown community of Oneonta and is a passionate advocate for queer causes and equality for all. He started Diversity Rules Magazine in 2006 because his area of New York had very little in the way of written publications for the queer community. Diversity Rules Magazine is now New York's premier queer monthly publication serving the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer and questioning community and its friends. It began as a printed publication but is currently in digital format at www.diversityrulesmagazine.com with the intention of returning to print media when resources allow.

Mr. Koury is an avid writer, a novice artist, and an all around eclectic individual with a very liberal outlook on life, politics and social issues. He makes no apologies for his stand on issues and believes everyone should express their own true selves in their own way. He lives by Aristotle’s quote, “It is the mark of an educated mind to entertain a thought without accepting it.” His mission is to get people to think and think for themselves regardless of one’s belief systems.

He currently lives in Oneonta. He is single and lives with his dog Ozmo and his three feline companions; Emmie, Gooba and Izzy.

Glo
A Film Directed by Tanyeno Wotorson

[Picture Omitted in paste]

Director Tanyeno Wotorson
is building a body
of work which centers
around the human condition
- our ideas of it and
who we are as part of it.
She was once known for
her elaborate theatrical
productions as a film student
and a mood she injected
into her films (even
having been dubbed the
“Female Edgar Allen Poe” for the same perspective
and aesthetic.) After leaving school, Tanyeno
took numerous production jobs, collecting
experiences to help her as a filmmaker. She
eventually returned to her passion for writing
and directing with the film Mask. Tanyeno is
presently completing her third short. Glo is a
film about stigma, expectations, and perception
– and how in the blink of an eye, all of these
things can change.

The story begins with two diametrically opposed
brothers – the ‘golden boy,’ Simon, and
his prodigal brother Leandro. The financially
successful, hot New York club owner Simon
seems to have it all, while his brother Leandro
runs a struggling dive bar in the Midwest, open
only out of love for his clientele and staff.
Simon is living every man’s dream, a successful
business, a hot, go-go dancer fiancée, when
he gets a phone call that changes everything.
Rushing to Leandro’s terrain, he becomes captured
by the profoundly beautiful and mysterious
Ertia.

As Simon’s surroundings change, so does his
mien. He goes from a high-end nightclub to
his brother’s dive club; a luxurious apartment
to a quaint and cozy Midwestern home; and
from an anesthetized setting and relationship
to so much more in life that he has yet to fully
realize.

As the story unfolds, we find out why Leandro
is the prodigal son, who Ertia is, and how Simon’s
preconceived notions of his brother, and
more importantly, his life and those in it, begin
to unravel the very substance of Simon’s being.
Simon is flawed, and yet he is the ideal catalyst
for real emotional change – the audience is led
on a tempestuous journey that causes them to
see what he sees, feel how he feels, and start to
recognize their own feelings about stigma and
prejudice in their own lives.

The gay, heterosexual and lesbian characters in
the film are people navigating the emotionally
and sexually imperfect landscape of their lives.
Who will be the real impetus for the change in
Simon’s very being?

The director wants the audience to confront
the stigmas that they have in their own lives, as
well as the subtle or not so-subtle prejudices
that they have experienced or projected onto
others. It is the hope of the film’s creators will
open audience’s minds and their hearts, to see
that all may not be what it seems, and yet there
is beauty in every story.
